Project Description:
A major Crude Oil Storage Depot located at Jebel Ali Port. Large network of RCC Retaining Walls, Deep Sump Product Pumping Station (250,000 litres /hour) and massive Mooring Hook foundations were required to be constructed in a very short time frame. In addition, Administrative Offices Block, Fire Station, Laboratory and Workshop Buildings and hundreds of RCC pipe supports were also built.

Features
This contract was a major Heavy Civil Works opportunity. Located some 25 Kilometres from Dubai and with the project consultants in the Netherlands, logistics and design co-ordination were of extreme importance, with only 180 days for mobilization and construction.
Amongst many challenges were the casting of the sump chamber and foundations for the Product Pump Station. At a depth of 6m and a concrete volume of 800 cubic metres was required to be poured in a continuous operation. The team timed the pour to coincide with the Lunar Low Tide, when the water table was at its lowest, and achieved the task without any difficulty. On-site concrete batch plant and company owned Transit Mixers and Pumps were used in a round-the-clock pour.
The huge Mooring Hook Bases, each with a 100 cubic metres pour, adjacent to the wharf were similarly timed and executed.
Over 20 Kilometers of Rigid Weld jointed M.S. Pipes convey the crude oil from and to the moored vessels and the storage tanks. The pipes rest on concrete supports. The specification called for a precision in level of +/- 1mm at the top of the support. Over 1,000 such supports were built with exact tolerance requirements.
